    For Pi Day—March 14, or, more accurately 3.14—teacher Joanne Link had her orchestra students compose the “Pi Song� by taking the first numbers of pi, lining them up with a scale, and then playing the song. “The students brought in circular treats—some very delicious and homemade!� said Link.

    The Character and Kindness Club sold ¨Boo Grams¨ to raise money for the Beachwood Police Department. Today, main office secretaries Lori Mueller and Angela Abrams presented SRO Langan a check for $150. The school expresses its thanks to club advisors Mrs. Pero, Mrs. Mayne, and Mrs. S. Peto, as well the Seminole Character students for their support and, of course, kindness!

    Representatives from COMPASS (Creating Ocean Monmouth Prevention And Supports for Students) visited Intermediate South Sept. 16 to present "Be The Change - Putting An End to ÀÖÓãÌåÓý Violence and Bullying,â€� which used social and emotional learning to teach students how to prevent, react, and reduce violence and bullying in school. Sixth-grade students were clearly eager to participate, and learned the importance of being an upstander, not a bystander.

    Worth's Homeroom Worthy of Pizza Thanks to Attendance Win
    Congratulations are in order for Cherri Worth's homeroom in C105, whose students won the November attendance contest by showing up at a 96-percent clip. One reward was Papa John's pizza. Joshua Power's homeroom earned second at 95.4 percent, and Mrs. Brenner's homeroom was third with 95.1 percent. Great job!

    Seventh graders students had quite an experience today, as they interacted with famous authors Kwame Alexander and Judy Blume, who spoke with students virtually on the topic of creating compelling characters. Alexander and Blume also hosted a character craft lesson and a live Q & A. “It was so cool!� said language arts teacher Katie Jimenez. "I feel so grateful to have administrators that support opportunities like this for our students to help them grow as readers and writers.�
